Turbocharging 460 questions Empty Turbocharging 460 questions

Post  501ranger November 14th 2012, 6:25 pm

I am thinking about building a turbocharged 466 for a 4x4 sand drag truck and could use a little guidence. It would have forged connecting rods and pistons, probably ported cast-iron heads, a blow-thru carb, victor intake, air to water intercooler. I want 10 to 25 pounds of boost and about 700 to 800 hp. Any suggestions on turbo size for a single or twin setup? Anything I need to add or change? Question

for 700-800 hp you don't realy need a turbo charger, a good 557" P51 headed motor will get you their no problem.

Sometimes and I am guilty of this, we need to just help the poster with the questions they ask.

I think his hp could be easily gotten with twin turbos and have a fairly sedate package. A 557 making that hp would be gnarly. He could make 700 hp with ported D3's and 15 lb of boost or less. And a relatively small hydraulic cam. Cool

I am with you a 557 would be what I would run , but I am not up on turbo's either. Rolling Eyes

It's always about what a person wants, what suits one, may not necessarily suit someone else. Wink

You won't need 20lbs with these.

Their is always more than one way to get to the goal, sometimes one doesn't know that simpler ways exist to reach it.

Is there a company selling a turbo "kit" for BBF - Or is all custom built?
