Ya I'm sure with some tuning and a little more boost the race gas would allow us to see the 1000hp marker. On the rd I'm more than happy with 790tq ....you look at the gas pedal wrong and the tires will be smoking!

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 Empty radiator support

Post  66prostreetfairlane November 25th 2012, 8:41 pm

well we have been cutting, grinding, bending, and welding some sheet metal. The radiator support/shroud is in it's rough form. We will do some body work to it and get it painted engine color down the road. There will be an A/C condensor in the front of the radiator that goes the full width in it's own metal support box. I also have two B&M super coolers that will be mounted behind each bottom headlight delete with their own 9" fans. The drivers side will be an extra cooler for the radiator due to running a/c and being boosted it will need the help. The passenger side will be for a transmission cooler. We also plan on having a chin spoiler that mounts off the bottom of the radiator support to bring up more air.

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 DSC07769
The sheet metal piece will be painted the same blue the motor is.

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 DSC07777
Got some tabs tig welded for mounting and there will be rubber in between on final assembly

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 DSC07778
The tag board template will be sent in to have a custom stainless piece cut.

The motor will also be delivered this week, so will be making a roller cart for that. bounce

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 Empty new parts

Post  66prostreetfairlane November 16th 2014, 7:22 pm

Been silent for a while on the board, but we have been working some fab on the car and getting some big parts. Rear shocks, drive shaft, and front sway bar are all that is left complete the drive-line. Noteable items inbound include a grill with center and bottom cross bar, NOS quality center medallion for grill, another pair of hood inserts said to be almost perfect, rear trunk molding. I have all of them items already, but i managed to find some much better quality ones.

Picked up a nodular 3rd member, Moser Wavetrac unit, 4.11 gears, and it's a 35 spline unit

Picked up two aluminum battery tray holders for the red top and yellow top i will be running. The floor mount in the rear fend area has been built as well since buying the units.

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 Empty 4 link installed and new parts

Post  66prostreetfairlane January 5th 2015, 1:25 am

well we got the new rear section of the frame reconfigured. The 4 link kit is from competition Engineering, real nice chromoly tubes. Dad was able to create the shock mounts as well for the double adjustable QA1's i picked up. The last portion left to complete the rear suspension is a the sway bar kit and welding in the wheeling bar mounts.

Is there a reason you put the watts link on top of the diff like that?

The center pinion is centered in the car and not offset like they usually are. By having it angled like that the center of the watts link is centered over the housing.

Edit: if your talking about why it's on the top vs off the back it was more due to the frame layout. The bars and brackets would have been much longer of the back.

The wheeling bar brackets are in and the rear sway bar is the next thing in line. Dad has been working on building a bead roller on steroids for the floor pans and other uses. It has a gear reduction unit on it and a treadmill control. I'll see if i can upload a pic later. Other than that the JD2 model 32 bender showed up about a week ago and needs a stand. We will be converting it over for use with a pneumatic air to bend up the roll cage. After the sway bar is done on the rear it will be time to move back to the front and start thinking about a sway bar up there. The real motor will need to be dropped in to finish up on the accessory mounts. Things have changed since we were last were working them as we went away from a mechanical water pump to an electric one that will be mounted most likely somewhere off the the front motor plate.

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 Empty sway bar

Post  66prostreetfairlane February 7th 2015, 8:24 pm

We got the rear end sway bar mounted, shock mounts completed, wheelie bar mounts completed. Now that everything is tacked we will pull the rear end out and fully weld all the mounts, sand blast it, and prime it. All of the bars with end bungs tacked will be sent to tig welded.

I also received the BBC crank support mount from RBS Supercharger. We will be able to put the hub on the bottom blower pulley, put the bearing on it and support the long crank. I'm using everything that the big block chevy unit includes except im having custom space stands made. The mount that would normally bolt into the BBC block happens to clear everything on my front motor plate so it should work out nicely. I am also having a custom blower belt guard made that will clamp to my snout due to how long it is.

I have decided to go with the rectangle air scoop rather than the shotgun. The car isn't round and it just doesn't fit the body style.

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 Empty Blower snout support and acc mounted

Post  66prostreetfairlane September 29th 2015, 12:04 am

Well as many can attest to divorce can make projects dicey and this one has been no exception. That along with life in general happening and Dad stretched thin between all projects and a new job we are making progress as quick as time and life allows. I am due to start a new job in the next week as well to make priorities such as my daughter the focal point.

That being said we are finishing up the accessories mounting and the upper blower snout support. Keith will be making the support for us once we have the template. There will be some fancy cutouts in the upper blower snout support in to make it look a little nicer and match the March brackets we have on some of the accessories.

Blown boss 9 66' Fairlane - Page 4 Empty 1000hp on pump gas

Post  66prostreetfairlane October 1st 2015, 2:08 am

I made the call to DevilsOwn today and talked to their tech about a water meth injection kit for my setup. We will be mounting a tank in the trunk and it will kick on after 6 psi. 91 pump gas will be equivalent to 116 octane with two #10 nozzles mounted in the carb plate on the blower. A mix of 50/50 should bring down intake temps upwards of 200 degrees and provide the ability to run some higher boost. SOoo technically I will be over 1000hp with 91 pump gas in the tank. The kit is a hell of lot cheaper then the other large name coming in at $430 plus shipping with a 6 gallon tank.

Well with Halloween around the corner, it’s time to revive this one from the dead…

We moved back from California last November. Moving from a high cost of living area like LA County California certainly allowed for a new appreciation of small town USA in Wisconsin. We picked up 36 acres with a 4400sqft house due to a finished basement and a 3700sqft detached garage. I’ve been playing Bob the builder, Bob the painter, etc updating the place.

Over the last 6 months I’ve been updating the other hotrod (62 F100) with interior, stereo, and reverse valve body in the C6.

Roughly 2 months ago we pulled the Fairlane out of the back corner of my Dads garage and I brought it out to my place. I’ve been working on a few things to include the slide and flip front end. The intent is to knock out the two big ugly projects on it first.

1) flip front end working, clearing windshield trim, and getting it to latch with good gaps. I ordered the stainless gas assist struts for it tonight.

2) get the belt alignment for all accessories handled. It will likely involve changing from v belt to serpentine belt.
