Fox Body Motor Mounts Empty Fox Body Motor Mounts

Post  njstang87 May 17th 2011, 5:27 pm

Hey all,

I am new to this and had a question about the 460 motor mount fitment in a 93 mustang. Are the threads of the mount supposed to go to the bottom of the slot on the k-member? Mine are roughly a 1/2 to 3/4 inch from the bottom of the slot. Thank you for your help.

I have a QA1 K member and mine did not go all the way to the bottom.

I guess it might depend on what motor mounts and K-member you are using. I've had a couple PA Racing k-members used with FRPP swap mounts and on both the stud on the mount ended up close to the middle of the slot. You know, they might have even been smart enough to design the mounts that way to allow you to level the engine! Wink

Sorry I left out what the parts were. It is a stock k-member with Ford Racing mounts. Gary thanks, I was just checking to make sure I could move forward. I have never installed an engine before so wanted some expertise.

Measure twice and cut once....... Oh wait, that's something else LOL!

try and try again until it fits correctly. Not many things will be a direct bolt in and may require some fab work or adjustments. Keep asking questions, even if you think they are silly.... We won't laugh at you......... much Razz

I may have some pictures somewhere, let me go look...

Looks like Hooker swap mounts to me. The hookers used a factory block plate, a 5/8" aluminum spacer and the 68-70 428 pickup rubber vibration mounts. I had issues with them when I first swapped in a 460, I went with the FRPP swap mounts which seemed to give a little more room. The Hooker kit was designed for stock heads, my Ford Motorsport CJ heads have the exhaust ports raised about 1/8" and believe it or not that little bit creates issues with clearance to the firewall and steering shaft.

From my understanding their are also variations in the fox chassis too. They are not consistant from year to year.

Usually the height of the mount, or the mount used, will allow it to sit high or low in the slot. Most important thing though is to move them in the slots until the engine is level (side to side) in the car. I say it doesn't matter as long as it is level side to side.
