I'm going to try to fins a rusty white toolbox on Craigslist to stick all that stuff in. The cages main hoop will be in the bed and will have a headache rack attached. The cage and toolbox will fool anyone and the only thing yoou will be able to see is the 3" long top tubes that connect the halo to the main hoop. If I need to add weight to get the front to rear bias right then Lefthander Chassis is right up the road and they sell lead plate that I can attach under the bed. With 1500 horses on tap I'm not concerned with a few extra pounds.

I'm still trying to decide on the license plates. Here's my options.

Veteran plates "eve"
regular plates "hillrod"
regular plates "rngshin" since it runs on ethanol
regular plates "NMNNMMN" Try reading that one fast and repeating it.

I'll also be adding my own singature to the tailgate this weekend. Everyone likes to put those fake bullet holes on their vehicle, mine will be real. Laughing

The doors will be getting some lettering and it will be correctly weathered. My brother is currently working on the design and I'll post them up when he gets them finished. I picked up my secret compartments to hide everything today. Your not going to believe it when you see them installed. Once parts start showing up I'll be able to make big gains every weekend.

That is sweet building a truck with way to much power lol. Keeping it 2wd is a good idea. Are you shortening it into a swb? What are you doing for front suspension? I've been at it for 10 years but with alot less power than you. Its going to be fun to watch. Keep it up.

I'm thinking about chopping 16" off the front of the bed and frame but leaving the rear alone. The plan for the front suspension is some lowering beams and some good adjustable shocks. Any help would be appreciated if you have any words of wisdom. The rear will be getting custom leafs, CalTracs, and adjustable shocks. I'll have some more pictures to post tomorrow night.

If you're doin caltracs.....i highly recommend them setup something like this.
The Evil Farm Truck - Page 2 DSC00964
The Evil Farm Truck - Page 2 DSC00965
Ive got a few more of the front lowering mounts i had cut if you're interested.

Ive been having trouble hooking 800 hp w. my caltrac setup.....i dont know what yours will be doin BUT
Drag radial or stiff sidewall tires are needed for SURE!

What exactly has yours been doing at the strip? Do you have any good video of the launch? Where's your instant center?

It runs high 10's and 60fts in the low 1.5's at 4100lbs in street trim.
Yes i've got great documentation of launch vids and adj. Its all over at the other site though.
Caltrac as shipped provided me a ridiculousy violent hit which resulted in rear tires off the ground.
Lots of homework later and i was finally able to get the front end off the pavement instead of the rear. Laughing
IC is somewhere out near the front bumper now...i cant recall exactly how far though.
I think alot of what i was fighting at the end was due to a soft sidewall tire....time will tell.
Heres my caltrac program as shipped and installed per calvert.....

And heres what it did last time i raced it w. the relocated bar and spring hangers....

That first launch is nuts. So did you lower the bars? What's your front suspension? It didn't look like it wanted to transfer weight.

What im trying to say is the caltrac setup as delivered is out to lunch......if you're hoping to buy it and install it due to effectiveness/convience, think again!
Ive improved upon my as delivered geometry 200% by moving the spring mounts and front bar location. As of the last time it was raced it worked as good as i've got to yet. It still hits the tires WAY to hard though so next step is a drag radial so it wont bounce (compress then rebound) the tire.
Im sure the next time im posting pictures it'll be w the front tires a 1ft in the air!
Ride height is such a huge variable and is soooo different from truck to truck.....no matter what, i feel like w. a large amount of available hp/tq the bar needs to be as flat as possible......

The only reason I'm going with them and not a 4 link is because my last Mustang was a ladder bar car and it screwed me out of running about 90% of the stuff I wanted to run. It's annoying that most people think a ladder bar is a advantage over a stock suspension Mustang. If anything I think it's harder to set up these days since you can buy off the shelf suspension that's been 7's.

Putting the rear on top of the springs seems to help alot. I did it when I first got my old 76 F100 in high school to lower it with drop i beams up front and with a custom slapper bar and relocated rear shocks it has been 1.49. Im sure the Caltracs will improve on this but I havent had much track time since installing them.

This is with the slapper bars and 28x10.5 stiff sidewall slicks

Here are some pics of my current set-up.
The Evil Farm Truck - Page 2 309

This is as purchased from Calvert Racing. The flip makes the bar level to the ground like Dirt_worker ended up after building a new front plate with his rear under the leafs. Its a learning curve especially after coming out of a mustang but with more power im sure I could get into the 9s in my truck with my suspension set-up.

Man, I don't know how I missed this thread. Nothing really against the Caltracs, but unless you're doing a specific class that forbids them, I'd just put ladder bars on it, and be done with it. My truck had a best ever 60' last Sept. of 1.36 on a well prepped track, with ladder bars. Unfortunately, I didn't get that one on video. But this pass was 9.81 @ 133 with a 1.38 60'. The D/A this day was right at 5000'.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsdBf0X8LoY

This pic is from the same pass. "Almost" a wheelie. Very Happy
The Evil Farm Truck - Page 2 SpokaneSept112010

Whichever way you go, it'll be a fast truck. And fast trucks are Cool Cool Cool
Oh yeah, any updates yet?

Well I got a little work done today. Still waiting on my yearly play money from Uncle Sam so I can order the bulk of the parts to finish it.

Here'e the modified oil pan to clear the Titan pump. I have no cleaned it up yet and it was MIG so don't laugh.

It's only going down 3" to 4". I want it to appear to be a shop truck that's faster then it looks.......................................................................... I want people to guess 11's though. lol!

Seriously though you can't fool everyone everwhere. It will only be a sleeper for about 3 days and then the jig is up. Then it will just be a cool truck not a money maker.
