Are they used anymore? Where do I find them? Best installation technique?

Collecting for the new short block, have found several used billet cranks in useable stroke lengths but most have a 2.750 or smaller main.

Roushe used to carry them, dont know any more. But perhaps some of the builders / suppliers on here can source them.

Of course!  Thanks Mark!  This is exactly how we make full-groove main bearings for 460s these days, didn’t think about doing the same with bearings spacers! We grabbed a set. Cool

What's the difference between a main bearing spacer and a main bearing (insert) ?
I think I'm missing something here. But that's nothing new for me...…………..

A spacer is used to reduce the size of the crankshaft main journal...in this case from 3.000 to 2.750. The insert is the bearing.

So you install the spacer and the insert on top of that.

OK thanks...…….never heard of that before. So you would take a ford crank and turn the main bearing from 3 in. to 2.75 to have a smaller bearing surface......interesting.

You would use a crank that already has 2.75 mains.
