First 547 build

First build finnally , going in a 70 cyclone gt street car



Engine is at machine shop now getting machine work done and balanced. Only requirements are to have stock cobra jet valve covers and fit under stock cyclone gthood should be around 10.3 compression with 72 cc heads

So far here's my parts list

Cast steel 4.500 crank
Icon forged pistons 35 cc dish
6.8 I beams
Mcleod flywheel
Summit racing balancer
Canton -15-750 oil pan
Melling oil pump
Clotes timing chain-
Heads aluminum SCJ - still need to get, possible bowel blend
Cam?? Thought I'd call lem, not sure if I should go hydraulic,solid, etc
Intake???? Thinking a mafia intake??
Headers will be hooker 6201

Hydraulic Roller cam and a Torker 2 intake with a 4150 1050cfm

It won't go under a Cyclone GT hood with a "Mafia" intake manifold.

Personally, I would use a solid flat tappet camshaft with a "Torquer II" intake manifold port matched on cylinder runners 1,3,6,8 ONLY; leave the other runners alone.

Bowl blending or not, be sure to back-cut the intake valves.

I don't know. I never built one that size but, a 501 with that stuff is over 700 horsepower, if it has a bigger than a street camshaft.

I hope you stiffen up the chassis on that Cyclone. Hate to see such a rare and beautiful car get twisted/pretzeled out of shape!!

We did subframe connecters from TORES design over at the Torino cyclone site.

Car is still in primer and apart. Decided to get a motor and drive train going

My thoughts on the hardware as well. A cool idea to only port match those cylinders to balance the flow distribution I presume. I like a solid flat tappet in an old school car.
As others have mentioned this power requires several drive line upgrades unless you will never go to the track.

Probably get a fuel pump from clay Smith cams

Gonna be looking for a set of hooker 6201 soon
And looking for recommendations on a 1050 4150 style carb. Looks like guys like quick fuel carbs?

My experience with my 521 HFT pump gas engine in my Torino. Started with a 750 then went to a 950. The change didnt affect drive ability but the engine was stronger on the top end with a noticeably lower ET. The car ran mid 11's with traction issues but trapped at 120 mph. I remember the 750 mph was lower by at least 2. For some reason I hate the poor signal 850's. I think they are lazy but I dont have data to back that up. A poor signal cannot respond quickly and may lag in the fuel curve.

Holley has done a great job to improve their carbs over the last 5 years.
If its going to be a 4150 stay at 950 maximum. The larger sizes are a compromise but this is my opinion and I am opinionated.
Also I agree on the "no choke" who needs that on any of this? So what if its a little fussy on a cold start. I'll take that over that restrictive choke horn any day.

CFM "ratings" don't mean much for the actual figures. That carb has a larger secondary venturi than a Holley 950.
It was perfect on a Kaase headed 528 BOSS Hemi; larger and smaller ones were tested.
That particular main body type carb is not available without a choke.

The Q-1050AN is fine if you don't want a choke.

In either case, use a Jomar "Powercone" spacer between the carb and Torquer II manifold.
