Re: SBF Hemi
That is a cool engine. When they did the first build as a Street Pump Gas engine, I sent that article to my older brother. For the past 30 or 40 years he has been wanting to build a '23 T Bucket with a cool engine. He has been on the phone talking with Greg Brown at Hammerhead about building the street version for his '23. I don't know when he will get started, but the past few years he has been collecting parts for it. When he pulls the trigger on the engine, I'll definitely put up some post on it.
Re: SBF Hemi
I have a friend that runs a Yates head SBF. He is considering changing to these. They are a pretty cool piece for sure.

I'm building a 12.5 to 1 445 cid with these heads. Waiting on rotating assembly now. I hope it makes decent power....

Keep us updated!
I believe the owner/designer of them made about a 1000hp with a SBF in race configuration.

Re: SBF Hemi
I think the story said it made 928 hp on a single carb!! And that was "just" a 427 inch motor. A 445 would more impressive still.
Imagine it with forced induction!!

Re: SBF Hemi
Greg Brown of "Hammerhead" has also installed those heads on an LS engine with just machining a slightly different head bolt pattern and using pistons to match so, now he sells them both ways.
Edit: They made a really good package at the Race Engine Challenge contest.

Truck
The video below it had a 521 with cast crank forged flattops H beams and a old set of A-429 Cobra Jet heads. Has Dominator with a Sledgehammer plate with a powerglide. We changed to SBF for the last race. The Hemi will eventually go in it. Video above is with the small block.

That was him. His truck runs good! We were hoping he would have came back for the last race.

Re: SBF Hemi
I finally finished getting the Hemi together and to the dyno. It made 803 hp at 7300 and over 600 ft lbs from 4000 up. I will have to look at dyno sheets for exact numbers. Heads are out of the box and untouched with flat top pistonsjasonf wrote:DWJ64 wrote:I'm building a 12.5 to 1 445 cid with these heads. Waiting on rotating assembly now. Unfortunately not mine is still on the engine stand. I'm hoping to get it in in a coupe of weeks
