Hi guys, I'm looking for a complete as possible big block, carb to oil pan or close to it, already assembled. Must be pump gas, street motor, RELIABILITY IS MOST IMPORTANT. I'm sick of burning through these motors. Don't care what the HP is as long as it's over 350 (should be really easy). Prefer low miles. Located in Columbus Ohio and willing to drive to surrounding states for the right deal.

Thanks all.

Why you burning thru them? What have you been buying and what are you using them for?

Mild street builds, the occasional drag strip use.  I actually got ~1,200 miles out of one of them...

- Bought car in 2006 with a mild street solid roller, DOVE-C heads, pump gas 460, ran low 12's.  I knew the motor was a bit soft and would need replaced fairly soon, no surprises here.
- Middle-end of 2007, had a fresh 545 shortblock built by a forum member, but had a small local race shop put the rest of the motor together and install.  Reused top end from old motor with plans to upgrade the heads/cam/intake/carb as money and time allowed. This was my longest lasting iteration, went about 1,200 or so miles then something was amiss.
- 2009, paid a buddy to check it out and he thought the cam had too much end play since it chewed up the timing chain oil slinger.  He went through the motor, replaced the cam/lifters/timing chain chain with an off the shelf Comp XR286.  But the C6 tranny needed rebuilt too.  Car sits.
- 2011, Tranny rebuilt, went to a TFS Mafia intake and 1150 Dominator, still with plans to to eventually upgrade the heads and cam.  Then BOOM.  Motor blows on the drag strip on a low 11 sec run.  Autopsy reveals the oil pump broke off and took out the forged 4.5 crank, 2 rods/pistons, and the oil pan, etc.  Car sits until the end of 2014.
- End of 2014, get a fresh rebuilt 545 back, this time with a custom solid flat tappet cam from Bullet Racing (260/269 @ .050, 640/640 lift) and a fresh port job on the DOVE-C's, still have TFS intake and 1150 Dommy.  2nd time out on the street, it wipes a cam lobe after proper and seemingly successful break-in.  Didn't make it to the track, or anywhere else with this one. And the car has sat ever since.

if you still have the 545,why not just freshen it up and use a small roller cam with new lifters.when the cam goes flat, the metal goes everywhere, and needs to be cleaned.also,if you buy another used engine there could be more problems as well.

The oil slinger probably got chewed up because there was not room for it after a double roller timing chain was installed.

Don't use the oil slinger when installing a double roller timing chain. WAG
