Thanks guys. -- Travis - The thinking behind the X locater is that a single bar works just fine under normal conditions but if it ever gets a little out of shape I wanted the extra strength for the side loading under those circumstances. A wish bone works well but wanted to eliminate the slip joint and maintenance associated with it.

68galaxie - I have buddy that has a 548 Chevy Combination similar to my 557 and he runs more RPM than the Ford with a 1050 Holley. We tried an 1150 on it and it made no difference. Could the 1250 show improvement that the 1150 didn't?

YES

This is not a Chevy it has no resemblance, I wish you guys would STOP comparing ford to Chevies, the only resemblance is they have iron and aluminum and rotating parts what would work on a BBC most likely wont work on a BBF most 454 468 496 BBC would use a 850 or 950 BBF in same cubes want min 1050 to 1150

plain and simple Fords like Carburation.

If I could remember how to post a picture here I would show you a double wishbone that I built for a Pro-stick Berretta. It basically was a forward facing wishbone from the rear 4 link brackets that the center tube slid over a opposite facing wishbone from the front brackets. It has held up very well. I have put grease fittings on ALL of the wishbones I have ever built and used to ask the customer to grease them after every race. I no longer build stuff but thought your approach was nicely done.

One question though. Most 4 links are not of equal lengths when adjusted to different anti-squat positions. Being yours is locked in an X so to say, how does it work say 2 holes up without moving one end of the bar?

Not to hijack your build. Better explanation with pics that I finally figured out how to upload off my phone. This let the back articulate and let the anti roll do its job separately. Front wishbone spins inside the rear wishbone without side to side movement or binding. Tricky to build but rewarding...... built this for my buddy Frank who was 77 years old at the time. He just passed away in Sept of 19. He was to be heading to the races that day at the age of 83 but someone had different plans for him. May you race on in peace and continue rowing those gears old friend. Sad

Albert -- Thanks for your response. You need to be a little patient with us. The reason we ask is to gain knowledge. The theory with the Chevy example was the engine being nothing but an air pump and at 548 cu in  turning 8500 RPMs would move more air than a 557 turning 7000 RPMs. --- But all it takes is a little practical experience to blow the hell out of a perfectly good theory.   Smile

Travis -- The X locater mounting brackets are held in place with the 4 link bolts and must stay with the mounting bolts as the 4 link is moved from hole to hole to prevent binding due to dissimilar arcs as suspension travels up and down. The anti roll bar is very ridged and there is very little articulation. That being said I really like your double wish bone. It is definitely better in an articulation condition than the X locater. Do you mind if I use it in the future?  Cool

You are welcome to use it. I got the idea by looking at other cars and projects and modifying it to work to the situation.

My point with the length of the x changing might have not been worded right. Let's just theoretically say the 4 link bars are level across the bottom and the 4 link bars measure 18" between the brackets and are 24" long. Now if you move the lower 4 link bars all the way up in the back and all the way down in the front you are still 18" between the 4 link bars but now 26" long (+2" again just theoretical numbers) with a single track locator the angle across the 18" changes easily. With a double you are locked in to a fixed angle that as adjusted for length also gets wider now between the bars. Not meaning to confuse anyone but the x locators I looked at had heims at the center point on one crossing bar when i decided to build the double wishbone.

Good call Travis ---- This is the first time I have tried this design so I have no practical experience with it. I overlooked your point and it is definitely going to be an issue as it will not be happy with angle change at all. I see the center of the X needs to have a center bolt or pivot pin of some type to allow for angle change. Thanks Travis for taking the time to point it out ---- I do appreciate it. Steve

You have mad skills Steve. Not picking your build apart and glad you did not take it that way. I've learned most of my stuff from experimenting and trial and error. Of coarse bad decisions make the best stories...lol.

I quit building stuff a few years ago but admire anyone with talent, thier ability to apply it and drive. You have all the above.

The dash was painted the same color as the chassis with flat clear instead of gloss to retard glare. It did make it appear lighter. It is the same paint as the steering column tubes.

Aluminum hood made from .040 6061-T6 aluminum sheet. It has been kicking my butt. It is hard to see but there is a big bucket just in front of the carb that I've been fighting. The Flatter the panel the harder they are work.

Forming the blister panels. Would like to clean up the hole around the carb and do a carbon fiber wrap for the summer then finish the blister this winter.

The Aluminum hood looks great and there are so many compound arcs on the bubble that make it a very challenging project. Keep on keeping on!!!! Excited to see it buttoned up and the reaction you get when its out at the racetrack for the first time.
