Ok plugs are not in motor, just pulled push rods out and motor turns over. keep in mind push rods, rockers and poly locks were on motor but lash was not set.

did your builder check piston to valve clearance?

Was he a engine builder, or just someone you paid to assemble the engine? Embarassed
And, if he had checked the valve train geometry, he should found the problem before you got it back.

If you did all that at once put 1 plug in and see if it stops turning

Where did the pistons come from? Do you have enough spring for the cam?

O I was under the impression you took the plugs out also... this is a tricky one without being there

your saying the engine was professionally built and the rockers weren't set and the engine won't turn over? I would question the engine builders experience... If it won't turn over and valves are not set something is severly WRONG Makes me wonder about cam timing... I would take it back or start disassembly to find the problem cuz you have one thats for sure...

If none of the rockers were set, it would be very difficult to turn the engine over with the cam trying to push only a few springs. When they are all set they kind of balance out the force on the cam and allow then engine to roll over easier.

Set all the rockers and try again.

Something sounds off here. If all the rockers were loose, and the push rods were in the guide plates, how did it lock up the engine so it would only turn a "small amount" in either direction? Randy did nail the problem, if it turns over now. Anyway, hopefully that was the only problem, and you get it going.

Depends on how loose the rockers actually were and where they were on the lobes of the cam. I'm sure they were backed off only enough to get off the spring. Put a big enough bar on it she would have turned over

Coug it sounds like he asked the engine builder to back off the rockers when he was done, because the engine was going to sit up awhile.

^^^^^^^   You do have a point about the pistons. I was thinking more about the cam and springs. You also had a good idea about calling the builder to. Not knowing what spark plugs to use at this point is also interesting. With .846" lift minus whatever valve lash and 15/1 compression, he might want to ask what the piston to valve clearance numbers are intake and exhaust, and what the cam was degreed in at, and see if was recorded durning the build.

I found something, putting push rods back in, all intakes first, motor will turn over, first exhaust I put in push rod then rocker arm and the rocker stud is touching the inside of the rocker arm slot at the front. Poly lock wont go on. I think the push rod is to short on the exhaust.

Did you call your builder yet? If not I think you should, especially since his name has been mentioned here.

I haven't said anything bad about him,I'm trying to make sure I haven't done something wrong or over looked something. I am in no way trying to talk bad about anyone, just trying to make it make sense .

^^^^^ I agree let him guide you, he knows the build and if something is wrong he can verify and correct it.

Not that you bad talked anyone you have been cautious with your new build, and I am sure your engine builder will recognize that and help you move on.
