need help with a leak Empty need help with a leak

Post  BigRigTech July 12th 2015, 10:53 pm

My C6 has been leaking around the servo or dipstick area all summer. I changed the servo gasket and put RTV all around the dipstick tube where it enters the case. The tranny is fully rollerized, Merkl brake VB, 5000 stall with braided 6AN cooler lines. I'm getting some drips after a full out pass. When I slowed the car to 10.90 last race to run the pro tree series it never leaked a drop for 4 passes, as soon as I went full out again - drips!....Running 10.90 I was crossing the stripe ant 5200rpm, full out is about 6500rpm. The dipstick tube was dry as a fart where it enters the case all weekend...last race it looked like that was the leak...Not this weekend. Crying or Very sad

I have inspection holes in my tunnel, she's dry as a fart up at the vent. The fluid was all down in the RF corner of the tranny. It has me puzzled. Last race we could have sworn it was leaking out around the dipstick tube under hard breaking so I put the RTV around it and it was dry as anything when we took the inspection cover off. The servo is a TCI unit with a stock gasket on it. I must say that your t-brake VB rocks Frank, it works damn good. Cool

that's dry too....This is why I'm puzzled. Last race the servo was dry but the dip stick area was wet. this race - the opposite.

Have you checked the flexplate cover, if it is leaking there it could be blown to either side.

Dipstick tube was dry to the touch. I'm running a KFM mid plate. It's all dry there. The wet spot stops at the RF corner of the pan. I have a moroso rubber pan gasket on it with the steel core but it was leaking with the old cork deal too.

What kind of pan are you running...steel, aluminum, with a stock style pan the bolt holes are often bent or peaked due to years of over tightening or punching the holes I always true them up prior to reinstallation, if it is an aluminum pan a little sealant around the bolt holes and check the torque on them.

TCI aluminum pan. I tightened up the bolts Saturday morning before we started racing. Do any of the bolts go through into the case where fluid could leak out? I have a spare TCI pan here too.

No luck finding this so far. no leaks at the last race at the vent, lines or dipstick tube. Can't tell if it's coming from the servo (already) put in a new gasket this year or maybe the modulator? After one pass there is a film around the passenger side of the pan from the back to the front where it meets the case. I'm turning 6500 at the stripe - could it be too much pressure being forced out of the modulator hole? I'm almost tempted to put my go-pro under there to see if it will show the leak LOL

GoPro might be the way to go..................Gremlins can drive you crazy.....Had a tranny pan that looked fine until it sat a couple of days and then it was wet at the corner.....Found a hairline crack in the corner of the aluminum pan...Good Luck
