Early a460 block and 4.75 crank
Will there be any problems placing a crank in one of these blocks? I know where there one for sale and may make him an offer on it. I would put this in with a TFS A460 heads worked over my one of the Fourm member here

I gotta check my notes, but as I recall..with an Oliver steel rod, you need to make a small notch at the bottom of the bores and one place on the pan rail.
Aluminum rods take more work.
More info tomorrow

Yeah...
Most of the 632/638 deals that we do are 6.7" rods..in a 10.3" block.

Ok...memory is back.
Steel rods...small notching at bottom of the bores and a place or 2 on the pan rail.
Can be notched by hand with a die grinder. Aluminum rods take more work, usually in the mill.

Re: Early a460 block and 4.75 crank
The 4.75/6.800 combination leaves a 1.125c/h for a 10.300 block height. With 1/16th rings the top ring could be .260 down, max. With .043 rings it could be .300 down. This could work if the valve pocket is "around" .200 deep. Not a great NOS design but "some" could be used. A flat top or dome would be the way to go. A dish would be out of the question as far as any significant volume.

6.7 rod 1.225 pin height? Ring package? Debating on staying with bottles or biting the bullet and just going turbo.

My 640 has a 6.835" aluminum rod. I had to do a little bit of grinding, but not too much.
