I'm curious as to what people think a 1000 hspr overdrive transmission should cost. A Lentech is around $4500 IIRC.

I'm not saying its way too much, I'm more saying for the $, could a larger engineered unit be stronger overall?
Or maybe slightly less?

E40D will be the cheaper and easier bolt in for you . Install the 4R100 internals sonnax shift kit and you are on your way8) . use a PI or Circle D converter . Deep pan large trans cooler factory cross member and mount factory style flywheel. The only thing you will need is the stand alone harness and what ever shifter you want.

1000hp check lists engine $12,000-$175000, trans $1500, Converter$800 to $1200, drive shaft $400 with yoke, rear end $2000, rear suspension $1000, front suspension $500, rear tire & rims $1000, fuel system $800, cage $2500... $20000 $30000 can go very fast and wont get it done plus a year or 2 worth of work

All true, but isn't that getting away from the point? Although price has been thrown around, to me the OP sounds more like "What can I get for my dollar?" VS. "What can I get for A dollar?"
Big difference.

Not many $1500 transmissions out there can can hold a true 1000hp reliably but it's possible.

We could have all that built in a few weeks if the money was ready. Cool

That's a very tall order in a couple weeks to build a complete 1000hp car-truck from scratch...

I've done 1500-1900hp radial cars that fast and there is a lot more to do with those.  The thing that would take the longest would be the motor because it seems that machinist have a different time system than the rest of the world. Lol

I'm looking at adding boost or nitrous which will actually be cheaper than 1,000hp N/A. My rear end is already set up, I need a better trans and driveshaft, and the engine needs connecting rods and a re balancing. But I will probably get a Big Stuff system because I am being told blow through is not optimal and it's all just band aiding the situation. I'll have quite a bit to do, so it's not happening over night. But even if I don't build the engine up yet, I would like to get everything set in place for my future plans Smile

dont expect a cheap assy to have a very long life........ the expense of a 1000 hp n/a combo is not obtained from the parts making the power but rather from the parts that will handle the power no matter how the hp number is achieved.

You may not need as good of a cyl head to hit your number w a power adder, but a stock 2 bolt block, cast stroker crank vs an aftermarket block forged crank yada yada yada will get there just the same...... but it damn sure wont last long.

There is nothing wrong with blow thru for most combinations.

If going efi I would do a fast xfi or holley dominator system instead of bs3.  Nothing wrong with bs3 but the other two have newer technology and are actually cheaper to set up.

The argument I hear is, "the fastest promods in the world use bs3."  Well, for the most part yes.  But that is more due to the fact of comfort level than available technology.

Thank you, that looks like a really nice piece. I'll keep an eye on it, I need to figure out if I'm staying with a c6/E40D setup.
