has anyone ran a 4l80 behind a bbf? Want to run an overdrive behind a 600 hp bbf in a 4000 lb street truck

I haven't, but thought about a lot. It would get a little pricey, but I'd bet worth it in the end. Let us know what you decide.

The 4l80 is decent as far as trannys go, but in the end a ford c6 built to what you want WILL be cheaper and stronger in the long run. Down there in America you should be able to find a reputable tranny shop to help you get pointers and a game plan.

Oh you can build a three-speed non lock-up unit way cheaper, but that wasn't part of the question at all. Even without lockup, you'll have OD, and a stout unit built around it. You will need some adaptation, and some electronics, but you absolutey want an overdrive unit? I'd bet still at least a little cheaper than a gear-vendors, which would be an easier way to go I think, especially with the length of a truck. And with the GV you could turn it on in every gear, essentially making it a 6 speed with one OD. There are options, if you want them
