It will last for a while. I ran that trans in my first dragster. 557, about 830 hp. It lasted about 2 yrs until the planetary broke. I just replaced it with a 1.80 straight cut, but kept the rest the way it was. Was still with the car when I sold it.

It wont see the track that often. What do I have to do cut the bell housing off of it? And get a adaptor bell to fit the 460 block? Can I launch on the Nos right off the Trans brake and keep it flooded when I shift on the juice?

As David noted, it would probably last for a while.
At 2800# and limited track use, the 1.76 helical gear set would probably last 100 passes or so.
It may be good to upgrade the input shaft to the 300M and upgrade the high gear clutch pack to 8 frictions.
If you are dealing directly with BTE, ask for Ray Huffman and tell him that you are my Big Block Ford buddy. Ray is a good representative that will put you on the right setup.
If you are not dealing with BTE, check with Steve Oldani (I believe he frequents this forum). He can be reached at (319) 230-1440. Steve builds LOTS of 2-speeds and is a BTE dealer. He can give you some solid advice from his experience with similar setups.
You will need to install a JW Ultrabell or use an adapter. Most door car folks go with the Ultrabell. There are other alternatives that will require a complete aftermarket case and they are all nice. $$
The Ultrabell will require the Chevy bell to be whacked off. If you are buying a new trans, the builder will do this for you. If you are doing it on your own, you would be wise to find someone with a mill to do it nicely. It can be done with a sawzall.......
You will also need an SFI flexplate, like the JW Wheel and a crank pilot adapter. JW has all of this. Ask for Eric or Tracy at JW (321-632-6205) and use my contact info.

Given similar low gear ratios, the C4 and C6 would have virtually the same 60 ft performance. The lower rotating mass of the C4 should show a very slight advantage for the remainder of the run.
The Glide with a 1.76 or 1.80 low gear will typically 60' worse than a 3- speed. They give their advantage in simplicity (one gear change ) and light weight.
The C6 is very durable when converted to roller thrust bearings and if prepared correctly will do a great job.
The 2-speed has a wide array of aftermarket parts to select from at decent prices. The used market is well stocked with race Glide parts too.
My car would pull the wheels much higher with a C6, but has won more rounds with the calmer low gear of the aftermarket 2-speed with a 1.80 low gear.

Our customers cars we've switched over to glides have always 60' better. Wheel speed is up and the launch is usually less violent.

Of course every car acts differently.
