C-4 convertor question

Is there any way to tell which convertor spline a c-4 has without pulling the tranny? I am helping a buddy and he is getting ready to order a new convertor but doesnt know what to order.

Without actually counting the splines on the input, you can get the ID numbers off the case and find out what year it was manufactured. 1970 and later will have the 26 spline, earlier will have the 24 spline. Hope this helps a little

OK I will look to see if I can figure out a year on it. Can a 24 spline c-4 be converted to a 26? If so what all parts would need changed?

I believe so, as I am not a trans guy by any means, but I'm sure there will be someone along with more knowledge with them. I know you would need to change out the shaft and drum.

i just went threw this same thing...you can change to a 26 spline if itis a 24..but obt its a hassle..you have to changed the internal parts also..easier to just get the correct converter to start with..pull tranny out and count splines..easy
