the only problem i've saw with the stock case came when a big hp turbo olds powered yard dart started burning clutches in a couple passes.they jacked the line psi up and the case cracked somewhere close to where the lines go into the case,BUT i think the lines be'n too tight can cause it too. Suspect

138 it's not the case that usually breaks, if it does it is caused by something in a bind which put undue stress on the case, in that fact the Reid will break also if in a bind. like having the engine and trans mounted solid something is going to break and being the trans case is Aluminum it will break first.......

Proline 2500 Glide - Page 2 Empty TS Proline Glides...

Post  Oldani December 11th 2011, 1:20 pm

Have not been here for a while, but there's some information worth sharing I feel. Keep in mind this isn't bashing a company as I do sell TS product. But... I will NOT sell their gearsets or complete trannies. Why you ask? Take a peek:

http://www.importgenius.com/importers/transmission-specialties-inc

I prefer to sell and use gearsets made in the USA. I've had superb results with the BTE sets; made in-house. If anyone wants to tear into a Glide and needs any tech support feel free to contact me as I'm always more than willing to walk a racer through their own rebuld.

As to case breakage it can and does happen with no "lockup" of parts as the cause. Flexing is a huge issue and the weak spot is at the bell area. The other weak areas are at the back of the case where the reverse piston sits, and also at the band adjuster bolt and servo areas. Aftermarket cases all but eliminate these flex areas and contribute to more consistent passes and longer trans life.
