HP estimate Empty HP estimate

Post  HorsinAround October 19th 2012, 12:20 pm

Can someone run some numbers for me so I can get an idea of what the combo I am building is capable of producing please. Stats are as follows, let me know if I am missing something needed for the calculation.

Bore 4.390, stroke 4.150, .010 in the hole, flat top diamond's (catalog puts the compression at 12.9:1 with .005)
Intake will either be a mafia or a Victor, carb will be either a 950 or a 1050 (hope to try both when we actually dyno) and planned headers will be 2" into 3-1/2 collectors.

Heads are aluminum CJ's 68cc chambers flow data is;
Int Exh
.100 77 51
.200 151 115
.300 222 148
.400 280 185
.500 313 208
.600 338 228
.700 354 230

Cam specs are;
Centerline: 108
Intake Exhaust
Gross Lift .656 .641
Duration@.020 310 314
Duration@.050 270 276
Lobe Lift .375 .371
Lobe Seperation 108

Also, given a 3800lb truck, what sort of et's are possible with a c6, 4.11's and a 3500 stall?

I'm going to say mid 600's with the relatively smallish lift cam and cubes. My SS engine had heads that flowed around there and had more cubes and was in the mid to upper 6's for hp.

Yea, I was hoping to go .080 over but we had one cylinder with one spot on the wall that checked .186
So I am going with a conservative bore with a 1/2 fill.

That's a lot of weight to get moving (don't ask how I know lol)
W. the details listed id expect mid 11s...
If it was me ....id use the 1050, find a 2 1/8 header, give it more convertor and get a custom cam from Blake the snake...

I have been thinking the same thing. How do I get in touch with Blake?

Well plans changed today. I was just offered a block and forged pistons that are .100 over for a price I couldn't pass up. The pistons are even set up for my crank. So I'll have a 521. Was also offered an alcohol 950 dp for 250. So I think I'll snatch it up to

This block is filled so ill have to switch to alcohol. What is different with alcohol from gas?

I'd have a sonic done on that Block if it hasn't been done yet. If it a A460 block ,you will be fine. Sounds like a good build. Smile

Tough to sonic one thats already filled.

Unless its a full fill you don't have to run Alky.

Yea, it's a full fill. It was originally built for a single engine mod tractor and has less than 10 passes on it before the guy passed away. They tried to sell the motor complete but they wanted more than it was worth so it sat.
I now have many parts off the motor that have been bought for a good price.

Alan, I don't have a hp guess but I'm guessing it'll run mid 10's.
You know what I have and your going to be way faster!!
My last pass of the year was 11.44 and I'm going to shoot for 11.00 next spring.

Mike, what was your 60ft time with the victor?

A friend of mind has a dyno sim program and it put the torque of my combination at 630ft lbs at 5000 and 660 at 6000 with a bell shaped curve for both. I took those numbers and have been playing with an et analyzer program and have the results below. Note that I did some guessing in the aerodynamics/weight section. I also have been playing around with the converter numbers so I'm not sure how accurate the converter multiplication and lock up% is. Feel free to correct any of the numbers.

Alan, my 60 ft with the victor was 1.54 to 1.56.
I was leaving off the Tbrake at 3800rpm.
Now those 60ft times are with my dreaded hook, unload, spin launches
Several here have told me I need good coilover shocks to remedy my problem. Someday will get a good set!!

Here's a rundown of my best pass to the 1/8 mile if you want to crunch the #'s
60ft 1.5428
330ft 4.5709
594ft 6.6639
1/8 7.1386 @94.79mph
1000ft 9.4089
But not sure if I lifted before or after the 1000. 1/4 was 11.5798 @ 97.41mph Laughing

What tire do you run mike? Sounds like you need a stiffer sidewall.
